This beautiful 1920s former bank building is located in the heart of South Bend’s East Race Historical District, and has been adapted to house a growing architectural practice. Exterior alterations included significant façade restoration to reestablish its relationship to the street and its place within the context of the neighborhood, and new, period-sensitive exterior lighting.

Additionally, substantial renovation and restoration work was completed on the interior of the building, including extensive renewal of all original plaster detailing, refurbishment of the original terrazzo floors, new skylights to maximize the use of natural light, and entirely new mechanical systems.

In 2016, Buccellato Design was honored with an Acanthus Award for Excellence in Preservation and Restoration for our work on the historic LaSalle Bank by the Chicago-Midwest chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. We also received a Southhold Award for Historic Restoration from the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County for this project.
