Connecting with the Landscape

At the end of long days running a large endowment, our Client wanted a place to retreat and feel connected to the landscape. Custom French casement windows and doors bring the outside in to this aptly-named Four Season Room. Rough-sawn oak lines the room, softened by a milk wash finish along the walls and pale blue drapery in a Bennison fabric.
The floors are Pennsylvania bluestone and granite from upstate New York lines a generous masonry fireplace. Here, we were able to design custom wrought-iron fireplace tools that were crafted by a local blacksmith.
Radiant floors bring a rich warmth to the room in the shoulder seasons. A completely concealed forced air system ensures comfort throughout the long winters and (shorter) summers.
Relaxed linen and greenery spell serenity all year round, making this room the perfect setting for seasonal dinner parties and garden brunches, late afternoon naps, and reading by the fire.
