Buccellato is a practice marked by the Partners’ twenty-plus years of close collaboration, in architectural practice and in life.

With projects on both coasts and various places in between, our award-winning work reveals a dedication to craft, artistry, and detail. Achieved in partnership with our clients, our projects reflect a purposeful sense of rootedness in the landscape and abiding devotion to beauty and the comfort of home.

AIMEE AND KEVIN BUCCELLATO

In a partnership that has spanned more than two decades, Aimee and Kevin Buccellato understand that a relationship built on trust and strong communication can achieve a great many things. This serves as a cornerstone not only for their practice, but also their process, in their close, collaborative relationships with their clients, their project teams, and construction teams.

Operating elbow-to-elbow since architecture school, Aimee and Kevin have built an award-winning practice marked by a deep understanding of the wisdom of the past in building for contemporary life. Through childhoods spent on opposite coasts, their extensive travel, and experience raising four beautiful and curious children, the Partners bring the combined richness of their life experiences and their academic backgrounds to every collaboration. With an inherent belief that good architecture can both elevate and deepen the meaning of the lives that we lead and our relationships with the people we love, live, and work with, Aimee and Kevin are known for their unwavering attention to collaboration and craft and the beauty that comes from that commitment.

After a decade of formative experiences in exceptional residential design, Aimee and Kevin established their practice, Buccellato (Design and Architecture), in 2011 alongside appointments to the Faculty of the School of Architecture at the University of Notre Dame where Aimee received tenure and Kevin developed the School’s curriculum in Architecture and the Building Arts. After several rewarding years in the classroom, the Partners have retired from academia to engage more fully in the growth of their practice. They both continue to serve their community in various roles, on the City of South Bend Venues, Parks, and Arts Commission (Aimee, Board Member) and the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County (Kevin, Board Member, 2012-2016).

Prior to private practice, Aimee and Kevin held leadership and project management positions at G. P. Schafer Architect in New York City as inaugural Associates of the Firm. The Buccellatos graduated together and with honors each from the School of Architecture at the University of Notre Dame. Aimee holds a Masters degree from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University.
